Food for Art
Always welcoming the next opportunity to make beauty and art out of whatever media is currently available, several friends of mine and I, who all work for a non-profit urban art center, decided to have a dinner party influenced by whole foods and lots of color! I recently came upon my now favorite cookbook blog, Heidi Swanson's 101cookbooks.com and instantly shared it with everyone I know. The recipes are so inspiring and each photo a mouth watering adventure. We each selected a color range and created a delicious and nutritious dish to share. What culminated was a gorgeous, flavorful feast bursting with energy and color. It was a right of Spring to use local and organic ingredients, asparagus, foraged mushrooms and fiddleheads, fresh goat cheese, artisan breads, etc and a celebration of our Vermont farmers. Mostly it was a joy to cook together, tell stories, eat great food and laugh a lot and smile from the inside. Now with the local Farmer's Market in season we're making it a monthly event!
